Banking News – The government has reconstituted the Governor Appointment Recommendation Committee. A Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday evening formed the new committee with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel as coordinator, outgoing Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari, and economist Dr. Poshraj Pandey as members.
The original committee, formed on Chaitra 20 (early April), included Finance Minister Poudel, former Governor Vijayanath Bhattarai, and Dr. Bishwanath Poudel. However, following Bhattarai’s resignation on Baisakh 20 (early May), outgoing Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari was appointed as his replacement on April 17.
The Nepali Congress had earlier proposed Dr. Gunakar Bhatta for the post of Governor, but his resignation was not accepted. Subsequently, Dr. Bishwanath Poudel was promoted, leading to his resignation from the committee on April 28.
Dr. Poshraj Pandey’s inclusion completes the newly formed recommendation panel.
