Banking Khabar /It has been revealed that downloading an app called “NEPSE AI” has resulted in the disappearance of millions of rupees. Complaints regarding the issue have already been filed with the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police.
According to the Bureau, in one case alone, a person lost NPR 2,861,000 from their bank account after downloading the NEPSE AI app.
The complainant told police that they saw an advertisement for the NEPSE AI app on Facebook, claiming to provide stock market analysis, and that after downloading it, the money disappeared from various bank accounts. Bureau spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Yubaraj Khadka said multiple such complaints have been received.
The Bureau stated that such advertisements often appear on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, and that downloading such apps can lead to loss of bank funds. Therefore, the Bureau has urged people to exercise extreme caution when downloading these apps.
The Bureau has advised downloading apps only from official platforms such as Google Play Store and Apple iOS App Store. They also recommended enabling two-factor authentication, changing passwords regularly, verifying the authenticity of advertisements seen on social media, and never giving remote access through applications like AnyDesk or TeamViewer. They further requested that anyone who experiences such incidents report them to the police immediately.
