Banks to Remain Open on All Public Holidays, Except Dashain

Banking Khabar/ Except on the day of Dashain, banks and customs offices will remain open during other public holidays. In a discussion with representatives of the private sector on Tuesday, Finance Secretary Ghanshyam Upadhyay gave this information.

According to him, this arrangement has been made with the objective of ensuring that imports–exports and financial transactions are not disrupted. Upadhyay also said that the government is serious about reopening the Tatopani border point, which was blocked due to the recent landslide.

On Tuesday, a detailed discussion was held at the Ministry in the presence of Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal with industrialists and business representatives. The discussion was attended by representatives from the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Confederation of Nepalese Industries, Nepal Automobile Dealers’ Association, Chaudhary Group, and Bhatbhateni Group, among others.

The industrialists and entrepreneurs had put forward demands such as tax concessions, subsidized loans, and prompt payment of insurance claims. In response, Finance Minister Khanal said that the government is preparing to introduce an Integrated Trade Revival Plan with the aim of facilitating trade and industry.The government is positive about providing concessions through tax policy and monetary policy,he assured.
