Banking Khabar / U.S. Signals Imminent Withdrawal from Iran as Regional Tensions Persist. Donald Trump has announced that the United States plans to conclude its ongoing military operation in Iran within the next two to three weeks, claiming that key objectives have already been achieved.
Speaking from the Oval Office at the White House, Trump stated that the campaign launched last month in coordination with Israel successfully targeted Iran’s nuclear program. He asserted that Iran’s nuclear capabilities had been dismantled and described the mission as a “complete victory.”
“Our military objective has been achieved. Only final tasks remain,” Trump said, adding that U.S. forces now control Iranian airspace and have significantly weakened the country’s military infrastructure.
The U.S. president also claimed that recent developments, including the deaths of senior Iranian political and military figures, have led to a shift in leadership toward what he described as a more “rational” direction. He further stated that Iran’s naval and military strength had been effectively neutralized, leaving little capacity for resistance.
Despite these claims, Iranian authorities have consistently rejected such assessments.
Trump noted that concerns over rising global fuel prices driven by the conflict could ease once the military operation concludes. He added that Iran has shown interest in negotiations but emphasized that a full U.S. withdrawal would only occur after ensuring national security interests are safeguarded.
The announcement comes amid escalating tensions across the region. In Beirut, Israeli airstrikes reportedly killed at least seven people and injured 24, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry. The Israeli military said the strikes targeted senior members of Hezbollah, though their deaths have not been officially confirmed.
Elsewhere, Syrian media reported that air defence intercepted Iranian missiles over Damascus. Iran has also sustained damage to key infrastructure, including strikes on facilities in Bushehr and major industrial sites such as steel plants in Isfahan and Bourgeon.
As the conflict shows no sign of easing, Pakistan and China have stepped in diplomatically, calling for an immediate ceasefire and the initiation of peace talks following discussions in Beijing.
The war is also having domestic repercussions in the United States, with gasoline prices rising above $4 per gallon the highest level in three years adding pressure on households and intensifying political challenges ahead of upcoming elections.
Public sentiment appears increasingly critical of the conflict, with a recent survey indicating that a majority of Americans favour ending the war immediately, regardless of whether all military objectives have been met.
