Banking Khabar/ The central bank’s Currency Management Department issued the tender on Sunday, seeking a contractor to handle the coins’ design, minting, supply, transportation and other related services.Only companies that have already passed the central bank’s prequalification process will be eligible to participate in the tender. The bidding process will be limited to firms included in the prequalification details published by Nepal Rastra Bank on March 12, 2026.
Interested companies must submit their sealed bids to the Currency Management Department at Thapathali by 12 noon on November 3, 2026. The submitted bids will be opened at 1 p.m. the same day. Proposals received after the deadline will not be considered.The procurement will follow a single-stage, two-envelope procedure. Bidders are required to submit their technical and financial proposals in separate sealed envelopes, which must then be placed inside another sealed envelope for submission.
Tender documents will be available for purchase until November 2. The non-refundable fee has been set at NPR 20,000, or USD 131 / EUR 115 for payments made in the respective currencies.A pre-bid meeting has also been scheduled for October 15 at noon at the Currency Management Department in Thapathali. The meeting is intended to provide prospective bidders with an opportunity to seek clarification regarding the tender requirements.According to the tender conditions, bids must remain valid for 120 days from the date they are opened. Each bidder must also provide a bid security of at least USD 148,000, or an equivalent amount in another acceptable currency.
The bid security must remain valid until April 2, 2027.The 400 million coins will carry a combined face value of NPR 400 million. However, this figure represents the denomination value of the coins and should not be interpreted as the central bank’s procurement budget.
Nepal Rastra Bank has not disclosed an estimated procurement cost for the coin production and supply contract in the available tender notice.
