Currency Exchange Facility Eased for Nepali Students Studying Abroad

Kathmandu – In a move to facilitate aspiring Nepali students pursuing higher education overseas, arrangements have been streamlined to provide foreign currency exchange services for tuition fees and living expenses through authorized channels.

According to existing provisions, students are eligible to remit tuition fees in foreign currency by submitting a formal application accompanied by a valid passport, a No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by the Government of Nepal, an official admission letter from the concerned educational institution abroad, and other necessary supporting documents.

Furthermore, the Nepal Rastra Bank has clarified that students are also entitled to foreign exchange facilities for living expenses during their stay abroad. Even in cases where the documents do not explicitly mention the cost of living, the central bank allows exchange services based on other supporting evidence.

This initiative is aimed at ensuring that students face minimal financial barriers when transitioning to international academic environments and helps promote Nepal’s growing global academic presence.

Authorized commercial banks are responsible for facilitating these services as per the foreign exchange regulations set by the central bank.
