Banking Khabar / In a move aimed at opening the policy-making process beyond bureaucratic circles, Prime Minister Balen’s office has announced the launch of a new “Suggestions Collection Portal” to gather public input on the upcoming fiscal year’s budget and policy programs.
The platform, introduced by the Prime Minister and Cabinet Office, will ensure direct citizen participation in shaping policy and budget priorities. While the policy programs will be released on Monday, the budget is scheduled for presentation on May 15.
Through this portal, Nepali citizens living both inside and outside the country, as well as subject-matter experts and policy-makers, can share their views on budget planning and development priorities. Press and Research Advisor Deepa Dahal explained that this initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of valuing public opinion and expert advice in the government’s decision-making process, rather than confining it to administrative circles.
The Secretariat claims that the platform will help bridge the gap between the state and its citizens, establishing a new practice of good governance. In addition, the system includes a unique “Suggestion Tracker,” allowing citizens to monitor the status of their recommendations and follow up on government actions taken in response.
Dahal emphasized that citizens can submit their suggestions directly to the Prime Minister’s Office through the portal, accessible via the official website of the Council of Ministers.
