Four Candidates Shortlisted for NEPSE CEO, Presentation Scheduled for October 9

Banking Khabar / Four candidates have been shortlisted for the appointment of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE). The CEO Selection and Recommendation Committee has shortlisted four applicants for interviews and professional work-plan presentations.

The shortlisted candidates are Anil Raj Poudel, Navaraj Sapkota, Narayan Prasad Sapkota, and Pratap Subedi.

The Ministry of Finance had formed a selection and recommendation committee under the coordination of Joint Secretary Mahesh Acharya to appoint the CEO of NEPSE. The committee had published a vacancy notice on Shrawan 12 inviting applications for the CEO position. The deadline for applications was set for Shrawan 26, and a total of eight candidates had applied for the position.

Based on the applications received, the qualifications of the candidates, and the required criteria, the committee shortlisted four candidates. The process of appointing the new CEO will move forward following the interviews and presentations of the shortlisted candidates.

Interview and Presentation Scheduled for October 9

The interviews and professional work-plan presentations of all four shortlisted candidates have been scheduled for October 9 at the Ministry of Finance.

According to the schedule, Anil Raj Poudel will appear at 7:00 AM, Navaraj Sapkota at 8:00 AM, Narayan Prasad Sapkota at 5:30 PM, and Pratap Subedi at 6:30 PM.

The committee has asked all candidates to be present at least 30 minutes before their scheduled time.

During the interviews and presentations, the candidates will be evaluated on their professional capabilities, vision for the operation and management of NEPSE, proposed plans for the development of the capital market, leadership capabilities, and other relevant aspects.

Three Names to Be Recommended

Following the completion of the interviews and presentations, the selection committee will recommend three candidates out of the four shortlisted applicants.

The appointment process will then proceed based on the three names recommended by the committee. The final decision on the appointment of the NEPSE CEO will be made by the Council of Ministers.

As a result, attention has now shifted to which three candidates will make it onto the recommendation list and, ultimately, who will take charge of NEPSE.

The position of NEPSE CEO has been a subject of considerable interest among capital-market stakeholders. As the key institution responsible for operating Nepal’s secondary market, the NEPSE leadership is expected to play a significant role in improving the efficiency of trading systems, developing market infrastructure, expanding the use of technology, and modernizing the overall capital market.

Chapagain Resigned Before Completing His Term

Former NEPSE CEO Chudamani Chapagain had resigned from the position before completing his tenure. He resigned on Asar 22.

Chapagain had been appointed CEO of NEPSE by the then government on Chaitra 19, 2081. However, after he stepped down before completing his tenure, the Ministry of Finance initiated the process to appoint a new CEO to the vacant position.

The selection committee will now recommend three names following the interviews and presentations. The remaining appointment procedures will then be completed, paving the way for NEPSE to get its new leadership.
