Finance Ministry’s Tanka Prasad Pandey Takes Over as Agricultural Development Bank Chairperson

Banking Khabar / Tanka Prasad Pandey has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Agricultural Development Bank Ltd. following a decision by the bank’s Board of Directors.

A seasoned civil servant, Pandey brings more than 25 years of experience in Nepal’s public sector. Throughout his career, he has held key responsibilities in the Ministry of Finance and various government institutions, gaining extensive expertise in economic management, public administration, and financial affairs.

In accordance with the provisions of the Bank and Financial Institutions Act (BAFIA), the newly appointed chairperson is required to take an oath of office before the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank.

Accordingly, Pandey was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Nepal Rastra Bank Governor, Bishwo Nath Poudel, at the central office of Nepal Rastra Bank in Baluwatar, Kathmandu.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Deputy Governor Kiran Pandit, Executive Directors Ramu Paudel, Garu Prasad Paudel, Dirgha Bahadur Rawal, Mukti Nath Sapkota, Director Mira Talchabhadel, Nepal Rastra Bank Board Secretary Sharan Kumar Adhikari, Chief Executive Officer of Agricultural Development Bank Govinda Gurung, and Company Secretary and Spokesperson Himalal Paudel, among other senior officials.

Pandey’s appointment comes at a time when Agricultural Development Bank continues to play a crucial role in financing Nepal’s agriculture sector, rural development initiatives, and financial inclusion efforts. Industry observers believe his extensive administrative and economic policy experience will contribute to strengthening the bank’s governance and strategic direction in the years ahead.
