8 Qualities, one must develop to get job at bank

Gobinda Dhakal, President, Development Bankers Association – Banking sector of Nepal is busted in last few years. Despite of decrease in number of banks, their network is growing all over Nepal. These banks and their branches are providing thousands of employment. I hear that people are complaining about banks for not giving job to the right person. There is no truth as such.

The truth is people are expecting job at high post without practical knowledge.80 percent applicants in the bank for job are female and they seem lacking patience. We get 3-4 thousands application in the vacancy of 40. The rejected people keep on complaining that banks hire their relatives as employee, but never try to find out their weaknesses, develop them and retry.

To get job in bank following qualities is required:

Positive Attitude

People, these days carries negative attitude about the things, which are not in their favor.  For instance, if a person applies in a bank for a job and gets rejected, he starts to say that banks don’t hire employees by their qualifications. And they never retry. This attitude of people is keeping them away from banking career. So, people should always keep positive attitude and remain optimist.

Eager to Learn

One, who wants to get job in bank should be eager to learn more and more. Being able to use software is not the ultimate quality to be a bank employee. There are many other things about banking system, laws and other practical knowledge, which a person should learn gradually.

Practical Knowledge

People seeks banking job only with academic certificate in their hand. But, academic qualification or higher marks don’t guarantee bank job, rather it prefer enough practical knowledge.

Energy

Banks are in search of energetic employee who can work from anywhere. But the people, who come for job, are seen interested only on big cities like Kathmandu, Pokhara and so on. They want job at good post without struggle and effort. So, to be qualified for a bank job, one must be highly energetic.

Patience

Today’s people lack patience. Everything has to pass through a journey to reach to the destination. But, people, nowadays, can’t wait longer for progress. They want too much in a little time. This tendency of people is hindering them from being a successful bank employer. People get frustrated with a single rejection and change the path. This attitude should be changed. People must carry patience for ultimate success.

Independent decision

A bank employee must have the capacity to decide the things on their own. Most of the people, who come in banks for job interview, are weak in it. They are unknown even about what and why they want the job. They can’t decide whether they can work on any branch of the bank or not. A person should be clear about his interest well, if he wants to get a job in bank.

Financial discipline

People deposit their savings on bank with the belief to get safety. So, it’s the responsibility of a bank to take good care of it. But, sometimes a person’s greediness takes the credibility of the whole company in danger. So, a bank always searches for financial discipline in an employee.

No Ego

Most of the people hesitate to start career from low level and lacks knowledge for the higher position. They claim position on the basis of educational qualification but it doesn’t work in a institution like bank. And, in the end, their ego let them back from the job at bank. So, keep your ego away and come for the job of your deserving capacity, learn and get promoted to the higher level.
